Arsenal in Pole Position to Sign M’Vila

According to The Sun, Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger has made up his mind to submit a bid for Rennes’ defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila and the Gunners boss is confident that a bid of £17 million will get him his man.

But it seems that they would be facing a lot of competition, as Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid and English champions Manchester United are also interested in acquiring M’Vila’s services.

Arsenal, who recently confirmed the signing of German striker Lukas Podolski, had failed with a £10 million bid for M’Vila last year. They have upped their offer for the 21-year-old significantly but Rennes are reportedly unwilling to do business for anything less than £22 million.

Gunners Target Kagawa Wants English Move

Arsenal’s long-term transfer target Shinji Kagawa has turned down his current club Borussia Dortmund’s contract offer and made it clear that he wants to ply his trade in Barclays Premier League from next season.

Dortmund are so desperate to keep hold of the Japanese schemer that they are willing to double his wages, but the player has no desire of staying with them past this season and therefore, he swiftly rejected it.

In a quick word with Bild, the German champions’ sporting director Michael Zorc said: “We have a new offer for Shinji and his agent, but he is not willing to sign it. Shinji is planning his own career and he has the desire to play football in England.”

It is understood that a bid of £15 million will be enough to buy Kagawa, who has one more year left on his existing Dortmund deal.

Diaby Injured…….Again

Arsenal’s French midfielder Abou Diaby has picked up a brand new injury that could force him to miss his country France’s opening Euro 2012 clash with England. (Daily Mail)

Hamstring, groin and calf injuries have restricted Diaby to just five toal appearances for Arsenal this season. The permacrock Gunner made his first-team comeback in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Stoke city at Britannia Stadium, but strained his thigh soon after being introduced as a substitute in the second half.

While an official update regarding his injury status hasn’t come out yet, it seems as if he would miss the remainder of Arsenal’s domestic season and could be extremely doubtful to be a part of the French squad that will lock horns with their English counterparts on June 11 in Donetsk.

Benayoun admits RVP has been overburdened

Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Yossi Benayoun has confessed that the Gunners have relied way too much on their captain Robin van Persie for goals. (

The former Feyenoord striker has scored 28 goals in the league for the North Londoners this season and he once again played the saviour’s role in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City by cancelling out Peter Crouch’s opener.

In a brief word with media reporters, Benayoun admitted that he and his teammates have overburdened van Persie but said that finding alternative goal scoring solutions this late in season is close to impossible.

We have two games to go and I concede we have been over-relying on him in terms of goal-scoring but that’s difficult to change now until the end of the season,” Benayoun added.
