Rosicky Claims His Footballing Age Is 29
Arsenal FC midfielder Tomas Rosicky has said that there is plenty of football left in him even though he is now in his thirties. The 31-year-old playmaker has missed a large chunk of his Arsenal career due to a series of injuries and therefore, he claims that his hunger and desire to play at the highest level is more than his age suggests.
In an interview with in the official Arsenal magazine, Rosicky said: “I still believe I have plenty in me – we will see how it all goes, but right now I feel great and want to continue this way. You know, my normal age is 31, but in football years I am 29 – I lost two years because of injury.
“I can say that I feel very well and I hope I have many years to come. You see players like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes – what they are producing at their age for Manchester United is great and that’s a real inspiration for me. Everything is possible, but of course it will depend on my health.”
Song Not Interested In Inter Milan Move
Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Alex Song was recently linked with a summer switch to Inter Milan, but his agent Christophe Mongai has come forward to quash those rumours.
The 24-year-old Cameroonian’s impressive form has apparently caught the eye of the Italian giants, but Mongai says that he has never been contacted by Inter and his client also has no desire to leave the Gunners.
In a quick word with interlive.it, Mongai said: “I don’t know anything about these rumours but I can assure you that I’ve never had contact with (Inter sporting director Marco) Branca or with the other Inter leaders.”
When asked if Song would want to okay in Serie A at some stage of his career, he replied: “Yes, but Alex is one of the most important Arsenal players as is clear from the fact that Wenger always starts him. So I don’t think the Gunners are going to sell him during the summer transfer window.”
Wilshere Set To Reject Great Britain
According to a report published by The Sun, Arsenal’s injured midfielder Jack Wilshere has made up his mind to withdraw his name for Great Britain’s summer Olympics squad so that he could focus on club football.
Great Britain boss Stuart Pearce was hoping that Wilshere would play the tournament but the young starlet believes that taking part in the Olympics could affect his long-term fitness and it is not worth the risk.
