Fabregas ‘wants to quit Arsenal for Barcelona this week’

Cesc Fabregas will step up his efforts and resolve to leave Arsenal and join Barcelona this week, claims the Daily Mail.

The paper says Cesc will “reject Arsene Wenger’s last-ditch pleas to stay” and reports that CF4 could move to Barca in time for the Spanish club’s US tour and a debut against Manchester United. The pair were apparently set to meet yesterday to start discussing the future.

Ivan Gazidis gave the national daily press a briefing in China last week and they have produced their findings which reveal we have a “substantial amount of money” to spend during the current transfer window.

Gervinho has arrived for £11m from Lille and Gazidis claims AW will be busy before the new season. “We still will be active in this window,” Gazidis said. “We haven’t finished our business at all. We’re just not conducting it publicly. We’re working hard privately. We understand where the weaknesses have been.

“We’re certainly not sitting there saying, ‘let’s hold back on our resources’. We’ve got a substantial amount of money that we can invest. If we found an established world-class player and we thought the economics made sense and he would add to what we could do on the pitch then there’s no philosophical objection to that,” he added.

“Arsene has no point of principle to show the world that he can build his own team of young players. We have to challenge for trophies in that environment and we will. We, as a club, have transformed ourselves in the last decade or so.

“We have no God-given right to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s easy to lose perspective on what Arsene is trying to do, which, I think, is an extraordinary vision.”

On to the Sun, which says that Henri Lansbury is considering his future after Arsenal rejected a £1.5million bid for him from Norwich.
He was on loan at Carrow Road last season but the paper says AW rates him too.

Baron, Foots and ak47, look at the heading! It says “Back Page Round-up! It’s a simple way for you to read the Arsenal news as it appears in the press.

It’s not meant to be “Insider” news, for that you need to read the other sections.

Just give a little credit to people who work to provide you with an easy way to get the gossip without having to spend your benefits on buying newspapers.

In other news this morning, it is reported that the sale of Carlos Tevez to Corinthians is held up because Man. City are demanding the first payment of the £44 million fee to be paid before the end of the year.

What in heavens name is going on? Why should any club be allowed to buy a player on tick? If the club doesn’t have the cash then they shouldn’t have the player!

It’s a form of financial doping. When a deal is struck, for the transfer of a player, the player’s registration should be passed to Uefa, if the deal is between two European clubs, or Fifa if the deal is international, the transfer fee in full should be passed to the same organisation who would then be responsible for vetting the deal before passing the fee and registration to the relevant clubs.

This simple process could prevent the sort to third party deals which involved Tevez and Macherano in their move to West Ham, as well as ensuring that clubs live within their means.

  10. sky news says arsenal have been talking to barca over sale of cesc

  11. hat probably means barca said “sell him to us for €3,000” and Arsenal replied “come back when you can afford to pay what he’s worth” knowing that Barca can never afford it!

That’s talking as far as Farca and the rags are concerned!

  12. ‘That probably means’

  13. Jin.

Do you think also the images of newspapers is a bit of a clue also. 😆

  14. For the first time I am actually starting to think that he might go this summer and also that it wouldn’t be that bad if he does. Obviously we aren’t going to be able to replace him with a player of the same quality but I’m fucking bored of this saga which could have been sorted out ages ago by Cesc himself or the ‘manager’.

Now it has just become unsettling for the club and the fans and a distraction for everyone. Sell him for the highest price possible, £20mil on a top class midfilder and £20mil on a top class defender, give vermaelen the captaincy, and move on. FORWARD.

  15. So wait, you’re saying that hundreds on millions of pounds (or euros or dollar or whatever) should be going through FIFA every transfer window??!! Are you mad?? Fifa is almost as corrupt as the british government and I wouldn’t trust them (FIFA) with a penny!!

Meanwhile uefa’s rules are being made a mockery of by Etihad’s £400 million deal with Citeh, including naming rights to a stadium that isn’t owned by city (which is the real financial doping), and we are going to look to these organisations to be the people who monitor these things?? At best they are ineffective and at worst they are corrupt.

And on the general issue that clubs should have the full transfer fee and pay it up front for a player. This doesn’t really make good business sense I’m afraid. I don’t see anything wrong with clubs agreeing to pay for a player in installments as long as both clubs agree to it.

Its not too dissimilar from someone buying a house and knowing they don’t have all the cash right now but they can put down a deposit and pay back the rest as they earn it over an agreed amount of time. The clubs just remove the middle man (the bank who gives the mortgage).

Also, I very much doubt that man city (or any other club) has 40 million in a bank account so it makes sense for them to pay the club over time from their revenues rather than borrowing the money from a bank and having to pay interest.

And by the way, i think third party ownership of players has been outlawed, but correct me if it hasn’t.

  16. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_7046942,00.html

Or maybe it means this. hardly a story

but if arsenal know that barca can’t afford Cesc, why don’t they just say, “he’s not for sale at any price”?

Rather than “we don’t want to lose him. Obviously if they come up with an offer which was a very good offer we would have to think about it.”

  17. Hello Lads: I took a few weeks off and I come back to find…nothing much has changed. Quelle surprise. We have signed a couple of toddlers and a Frenchman. Fabregas Nasri blah blah goes on and on. All that speculation about buying this player or that wastes effort — as per he has only done 3 at a time so don’t hold your breath. Wenger “believes” this is the best squad ever etc etc. He will only buy if it’s the right player ie he won’t. Just like last year and the year before….

Dear oh dear, let’s hope there is some frantic activity soon or we will be left with something worse: a whole bunch of the disgruntled who don’t want to be here, Fabregas, Nasri, Denilson, blah blah.

And Man U game two lord help us.

  18. Yes it’s very clear that it’s “report” of whats in the papers. Just that when Daily Mail writes stuff like this its 9/10 times just crap.

That was my point, it’s not worth repeating. Crap articles should not be spread amongst us arsenal fans.
