Gobby Wright shoots from the lip

Ian Wright is shooting from the lip in today’s Sun and, despite never successfully managing one of the biggest clubs in the world, has decided to tell Arsene Wenger how to do his job.
Wrighty reckons we lose matches because we get bullied on the pitch and that back in the day, players such as PV4 and TA6 would have stood toe-to-toe with those who wanted a scrap before earning the right to play their football.
And so this giant amongst football’s deep thinkers has very kindly come up with the solution for AW, architect of some of the finest football on the planet. No, no, no, Arsene, stop all that playing and passing and employ a clogger, says IW8.
“Arsenal need to sign someone like AC Milan’s Gennaro Gattuso, an experienced, tough-tackling midfield enforcer who would not have allowed himself or his team-mates to be bullied by a player like United’s Darren Fletcher,” he says.
Wrighty, do you need the money that badly pal?
Elsewhere in the paper, it is reported that: Arsenal are set to lose their appeal against striker Eduardo’s two-game ban even though they have submitted a 19-page presentation to Uefa. The Times expand on this tale: The charge was received by Arsenal on Friday, along with a fax from Gerhard Kapl, the Uefa general inspector, which claimed that the referee had been influenced by Eduardo’s “gross unsporting behaviour”. It also accused the player of an “obvious dive”, “the act of cheating” and said there was “not the slightest interference” from Artur Boruc, the Celtic goalkeeper. “There are no exceptional circumstances that would justify a plea for mercy,” it added.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph reports that Manu Adebayor has had a ‘thinly-veiled’ dig at Gooners for not supporting him through barren spells while playing for the glorious Gunners. He said: “As soon as you play for a team where the fans love you and are always behind you, you try to give them something back.” What he meant was: “Look, I’ll try had for the first season to justify my money, then get a move elsewhere when City realise I am a money-grabbing football mercenary.”
Remember it is transfer deadline today so check back for any breaking news of new faces arriving at the Arsenal. Just don’t hold your breath!
