Ramsey Praises ‘Fantastic’ Ozil

While Ramsey scored two goals, including the winner, he believes it was the performance of the German debutant that was the most exciting aspect of the team’s play that day.
“He showed what he’s all about slipping those little balls through,” Ramsey said of Ozil, whose neat pass for Olivier Giroud led to Arsenal’s opening goal. “He’s a fantastic player and is very gifted. He’s going to create a lot of opportunities for us. He has a wonder of a left foot. He caresses the ball and the passes seem to be of a perfect weight and right into people’s strides.”
Giroud Needs to Pass Late Fitness Test
Olivier Giroud will have to pass a late fitness test in order to play any part in Arsenal’s Wednesday-night UEFA Champions League clash with Marseille, coach Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The in-form Frenchman has scored five goals in just six games so far this season, and his absence could be a big blow for the Gunners, who are already without striking alternatives, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo. The player himself downplayed his injury concerns a day or two ago and assured he won’t miss the Marseille game, but his manager still has some doubts.
In an interview with Arsenal.com, Wenger said: “We have a few problems. Some with [Mesut] Ozil but the main one is Giroud, who has a knee problem. He will have a test tomorrow and hopefully he will be fit. But it will only be decided tomorrow.”
“I have not really thought about it that much but the obvious solution is [Theo] Walcott. We’ll see,” the Gunners boss replied when asked if Walcott will be the man to lead the line in case of Giroud’s absence.
About Per Mertesacker and Ozil’s availability, he added: “There is good news. Mertesacker will be available again after illness. He [Ozil] was ill and has some tight muscles after Saturday. But I think he will be okay. We are optimistic.”
Cabaye Apologises to Newcastle Fans
Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye has apologised to his club’s fans for wanting to move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window but has refused to guarantee that he will still be around at the St. James’ Park beyond next summer.
The France international was the subject of a £12million bid from the Gunners last month, but it failed to get accepted by the Magpies, against the player’s desire. In the end, Arsenal abandoned their Cabaye chase and signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, leaving NUFC with a potentially unhappy player. However, the situation got a lot less tensed when the Geordies applauded the want-away midfielder in their club’s win over Aston Villa last weekend.
That gesture of love has softened Cabaye’s stance too, and he has said sorry for the whole ‘him wanting to leave’ episode, although he hints that he might look for a new club again at the end of the season.
He said: “(It) was very nice to hear. If the fans were – or still are – mad at me for what happened then I understand and I apologise to them. I want to come back from what has happened. I was happy and I am still happy. I just want to try and score goals and play well. It was very, very good to be back in the team; a really nice feeling.
“For Newcastle fans, football is their life and I want to say that I am going to give everything – as I have from my first day here – from today until the end of the season. It is important I do that because Newcastle is my club and there is a World Cup at the end of the season, which I want to play in. It is very important to be right in my head and I am.
“I’m okay. This is football. You do not have a career without bad moments. I have moved on and now in my head I just want to work really hard, to get back in the team every week and to help the team – that is the most important thing for me. I want to forget what happened during the summer, I want to put it behind me and give everything for Newcastle every day, for the club and for my team-mates.”
When Cabaye becomes available, there will be no shortage of takers, but it is pretty clear that the Arsenal ship has sailed for him.

Ozil joined the Gunners in a deadline day £42.5million pound deal after not being given the respect he says he deserved at the Bernabeu. And the latest reports emerging from the Italian press claim that Khedira could become a part of the growing German contingent at the Emirates Stadium too if he is put up for sale by the Blancos next summer.
