Wenger eyes German aces Reus and Grosskreutz

Inter Milan poised to swoop for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie. Or how about Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz admitting he is interested in a move to Gunners?
These are two of the offerings within the nation’s sports pages this morning in a week that will drag out the merest rumour of a yarn to fill the papers in the absense of domestic football and the stories to meet our thirst for knowledge.
Morning and welcome to the backpage round-up. The RVP angle? Can’t be arsed to comment as this – speculation will continue until the skipper puts pen to paper on a new deal. A friend of this site says that they know his agent and that he will definitely sign an extension to his current Emirates deal. Time will tell. Hope so though ‘cos he’s rather good at scoring goal is he not?
As for Grosskreutz (we’d rather have your mate, Mario, pal), he told the Mail: “If I do ever leave Dortmund, I would like to go to the Premier League in England, and my favourite club there is Arsenal.”  Until City offer him a billion pound an hour on a 30-year deal.
Still in the Germany, and another transfer tale sees Borussia Monchengladbach manager claiming that AW has inquired about his star player Marco Reus. Now if I’d been doing my job properly instead of munching on tea and toast, I’d have led of on this story as it seems it has some legs.
The boss in question is Lucien Favre and he is quoted thus: “Yes, Jens Lehmann gave him a tip to watch Marco. Then Arsene called me. I know Arsene very well and told him the truth: Marco is a very, very interesting player. But I am coach of Borussia and want to keep him.”
So there you have it. I am off to read the 50th anniversday edition of Private Eye while listening to Half Man Half Biscuit’s ‘Dead Men Don’t Need Season Tickets’ on a loop.
