Spotify founder Daniel Ek’s tweet about being open to buying Arsenal from Stan Kroenke seemed like a joke on Friday, but it looks like the Swedish billionaire is slowly making moves behind the scenes.

The Telegraph reveal today that Ek is really serious about buying Arsenal. He has been a Gooner all his life, and he feels that this would be the right time to use his enormous wealth to get the club off Stan Kroenke’s hands.

Arsenal’s current owner is under some serious pressure to sell up at the moment. He has received a ton of backlash for his involvement in the Super League, and a protest that featured thousands of Gooners on Friday showed exactly what the fans think of him.

Ek has now reportedly teamed up with three Arsenal legends who made millions fall in love with the club during our glory days at Highbury – Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.

It is claimed that the three club icons could be brought back to North London in some capacity if Ek can get his hands on the club. That is expected to put more pressure on the Kroenkes to consider the Swede’s offer if and when it arrives.

The four are reportedly working together to prepare a formal offer to take over Arsenal. Forbes value the Gunners at about £2 billion, but it would take a lot more than that to convince Silent Stan to let go of the club.

The Insider’s View:

You’ve got to hand it to Ek, the Swede is definitely going about it the right way.

Supporters already are open to welcoming anybody in to get Kroenke out, but if you’re going to involve three of our greatest ever players in your plans to buy Arsenal, you’re likely to be a very popular figure around North London.

It will be interesting to see if this goes any further in the coming weeks. The report claims that Ek really is serious about buying Arsenal, but things will only heat up when he submits an official offer to the Kroenkes to takeover our club.
