Nottingham Forest 4-2 Arsenal: Man of the Match

Man of the Match Arsenal Insider

As you’ve probably guessed, there weren’t many standout performances in our embarrassing F.A. Cup Third Round loss to Nottingham Forest.

When we were in possession, like a few weeks ago, we just didn’t look like we could fashion anything whereas Forest were expansive and exciting.

The game is really struggling to throw me any candidates for our man of the match, so I’ll go through a few players that played at a decent level but just weren’t good enough to claim a ‘man of the match’ in my eyes.

First up is Mr. Reliable of the moment, Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Deployed at left back again because of the shortage there, he did well going forward and despite being on his wrong foot managed to put in a few decent crosses which unfortunately weren’t met by Arsenal players.

Next is Reiss Nelson, also playing down the left-hand side, Nelson was one of few bright sparks from yesterday. He showed he’s capable of taking on his man and keeping the ball but just didn’t have enough support to make a big impact.

Sadly, the only other players who really got me off my seat were our substitutes.

Eddie Nketiah did well when he came on and showed some great feet inside the box before having a shot saved. Whereas for Akpom he probably should’ve have scored his chipped effort late on which could’ve helped us get back into the match.
