Cesc Fabregas the new Arsenal Captain, and do things the Arsenal Way please Arsene...

Arsene Wenger revealed at a press conference that Cesc Fabregas has been appointed the new Arsenal Captain. This is the kind of good news that all Arsenal fans have been waiting for. For me it ends any speculation that Cesc Fabregas will be leaving this club for Barcelona. The acceptance of the captaincy means that the player himself has given this club a vote of confidence. It means that Cesc sees as we do the potential of the young players coming through, and will commit himself fully to the club. Given the awful atmosphere of the weekend, this is a lift to the loyal Arsenal fans.
However…
I am very concerned about Arsene Wenger’s and the Club’s reluctance to give this information to it’s fans before the Press. We have abided by the rule that with major breaking news of transfers or anything of supreme importance that affects the club, that we would have to wait for official confirmation on the website. We the fans respected this as this was the Arsenal way…
Now there appears to be a Wenger way.
No information until HE decides to deliver it. There has yet to be any official confirmation of the removal of Gallas from the captaincy, NO explanation of why he had to be dropped before a fixture that we went on to lose? Which was more important, 3 points or saving Gallas’s blushes? There is at the time of writing NO statement to announce the appointment of Fabregas to the post. The angry post match petulance of Arsene Wenger was very un-Arsenal like, and I hope that he regrets the image that it protrayed.
I feel as a blogger and an Arsenal fan LET DOWN by the events as related above. We respected the club and tried to get official information, and none arrived. Are we the fans now just a means to an end? If so, this new political way of doing things is not the way forward if the club wants to silence the very real criticism of the club’s state at the moment. Get your act together Arsene Wenger, and treat us with more respect. We have supported you during a very difficult time, and all we ask for is a little transparency and mutual respect. Doing things the Arsenal Way is not to exclude fans from the important decisions and to only give them information at a time of the Club’s choosing. If the media handling of this sequence of events teaches us anything, then we do need to get back to doing things with quality, professionalism and dignity.
Rant over…
Fabregas the King.
