EXCLUSIVE: Legia Warsaw v Arsenal - friendly confirmed

Arsenal will take on Legia Warsaw in a pre-season friendly to mark the opening of the Polish side’s new stadium, we can reveal. Arsene Wenger will take the glorious Gunners to Legia on August 7.
The game forms part of our run-up to the new season and comes a week after we play in the Emirates Cup in a four-team event involving Glasgow Celtic, Lyon and AC Milan. We played Hannover in a similar ground-opening encounter last season in Germany.
The first friendly, traditionally, will be against Barnet and then it seems we will go to Austria for a training camp and probably three matches before the Emirates Cup and then Legia.
Legia president Paweł Kosmala said: ‘I am glad to inform all the supporters, fans, friends of Legia that the guests of this unique event in the history of our club will be Arsenal FC. I am really happy that we managed to contract a match with such a renown team. They are world class opponents. We will witness a huge celebration.’
And according to Kosmala, any Arsenal fans travelling to the game will have a ball. ‘We are preparing a few surprises. I cannot reveal any details yet but it is going to be a memorable day,” he added.
We understand that three stands of the new stadium are to be officially opened on August 7. They have seats for 25,000 spectators. The museum, the supporters’ shop and the sports bar will also be opened.
All we need to do is avoid the nutters who follow Legia!
