There is no doubt that Arsenal have suffered the loss some of significant players over the last few seasons but that is a fact of life in modern day football; players come and players move on and they move on for a variety of reasons, some for money, some for ambition, some for the love of the club they were brought up in and some are pushed.
Without change the team would stultify, the players would become complacent and the fans would become dissatisfied. To an extent this has already happened at our beloved club.
With the early signing of Podolski and Giroud, in order to lessen the impact of the loss of our discontented former captain, the club has indicated a change of policy by being proactive in the face of threatened departures.
The transfer of ALex Song is an example of the change in attitude within the club towards players seen to be less than fully committed to the cause. Song’s agent has made no secret of the fact that he has been agitating for some time for a new and enhanced contract, while the player himself has allegedly shown a lack of respect for the club with his poor attitude in training and lack of punctuality in arriving at the training ground.
The recruitment of Santi Cazorla is a further change in policy to recruit experienced, quality ready-made players.
Obviously the changes to the squad are going to need a little time to settle in, but those very changes will allow the team to evolve and for tactics to change as needed, perhaps even to a plan B, a lack of which has been bemoaned for some time.
On the whole I think change can be a good thing, in fact I’m all for it!
What do you think?
