Fiery red haired John Hartson has been diagnosed with brain and testicular cancer following his admission to hospital on Friday, reports the Sun Newspaper. John Hartson made his career at Celtic, but was an Arsenal player from 1995 to 1997, joining George Graham. He played 70 times for our club scoring 15 goals, but never quite made the top striker’s berth, having to compete with the likes of Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp. He moved to West Ham and three years after that move that moulded his fighting character, he joined Celtic where his career was finally established and he became one of their legends.
His Arsenal career reached a height in the European Cup winners Cup final in 1995 against Real Zaragoza where he scored the equaliser, and the game appeared to be heading for penalties until that long shot by Nayim beat David Seaman and broke Gooners hearts.
Our thoughts are with you today John and your family as you start that fight against this dreadful disease.
