Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal could lose out on a transfer for Andre Silva.
According to Bild, Red Bull Leipzig are close to sealing a move for the Portugal international.
The Bundesliga outfit have agreed on a deal for the Eintracht Frankfurt ace worth a reported €23m (£19.8m). It will see the 25-year-old earn a cool €4m (£3.4m) per season with the club.
And on the face of it, the transfer of Silva to Leipzig proves a bitter blow for Arsenal.
Lacazette replacement has gone
Alexandre Lacazette has flattered to deceive since he moved to north London in 2017.
The former Lyon ace’s time has been marred by inconsistencies in front of goal, despite his all-round play.
And with just a year left on his contract, it looked like Arsenal were going to replace him this summer.
However, with the most suitable replacement no longer an option, signing a new striker seems unlikely.
Aside from Silva, there proves no other suitable options for Mikel Arteta on the market.
The centre-forward provided a great balance between quality and price for a cash-strapped team.
Silva transfer would’ve transformed Arsenal forward line
A simple look at Silva’s performances last season would show you how he’d have transformed Arsenal’s forward line.
The ace scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga last season, second to just Robert Lewandowski. He also provided five assists, bringing his teammates into play often.
A move for Silva would’ve been perfect, however, it seems RB Leipzig have stung Arsenal.
