The Insider's View: Kehrer would be a good ball-playing right-back for Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Thilo Kehrer in what could be a shrewd transfer for the Gunners.

According to Foot Mercato, the north London giants are interested in the Paris Saint Germain defender. However, the German international wants to remain at the Parcs Des Princes.

According to recent reports, the £20m player has agreed on personal terms with Inter Milan over a transfer.

However, it seems Mikel Arteta’s men face a fight to sign Kehrer. But, with Hector Bellerin headed for the exit, he’d be a great addition.

The ace would be far better suited to the inverted full-back role Mikel Arteta demands. Having taken a leaf out of Pep Guardiola’s book, the manager likes his wide defender to tuck as opposed to overlap.

Kehrer is a far better player on the ball than his Arsenal counterpart. Whilst Bellerin had a pass accuracy of 83.8%, the 24-year-old’s was 92.5% last season.

The Ligue 1 ace also averaged more passes per game than the Spain international, showing eagerness to play on the ball.

If Arteta’s plan is to replace Bellerin with a better ball-playing right-back, Kehrer is his man.

The ace would vastly improve the output on the right-hand side and can help create an effective link with Nicolas Pepe next season.
