Theo gets World Cup axe

Theo Walcott has been axed from England’s World Cup squad by manager Fabio Capello for the tournament in South Africa this summer, we are being told.
Doubters has speculated that our winger wouldn’t make the cut after some rather ineffectual performances for the Three Lions. Of course, he has not been alone in dire displays and we are told that he would go as an ‘impact player’. But sources are leaking the news that he has missed out, with Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips getting the nod instead.
Sunderland striker Darren Bent is also expected to miss out, while reports are circulating that City’s Adam Johnson is also to be disappointed. The omission of Johnson as well as Walcott would indicate that Chelsea contract rebel Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon are set to be included. Theo lacks end product a lot of the time but surely to God (Dennis) he is better than Lennon.
At least we can look forward to him being fit and fresh for the start of next season. We are hardly blessed with English players at the club so we can hardly moan that there aren’t any in the squad. The fact is that we are faced with a squad full of players from our rivals. These are players who we hurl abuse at every other week and I for one am finding it very difficult to get motivated to support England to the level I have previously.
I never used to dislike players as much as I do now. Imagine Gerrard or Terry scoring the winner in the World Cup final? for every and a day we would get ‘we won the World Cup’ from the fans of that team. Imagine a T******** imbecile scoring!
It sounds treasonable but I am honestly no bothered about England in this World Cup. That wasn’t always the case. I have done a few World Cup (Mexico 86, France 98, Japan 02 and Germany 06) and even went to South Africa for a friendly in 2003.
But I seem to have lost my enthusiasm and it is down to players like Terry, Cole, Lampard (not so much) and Ferdinand. I don’t bracket Rooney in with these for some reason. Call it grudging respect.
What do you think? have you gone off England? Does the obscene money paid to Capello affect your support? Would you rather we won the Champions League or England won the World Cup?
It could be worse. Old Harry could be in charge. No wait. That would mean no transfer, er, dealing. No, he’d never put up with that.
