Arsenal’s Premier League title dream has all-but ended after a 4-1 loss against Manchester City, with the Gunners utterly humiliated at the Etihad Stadium.
A Keven De Bruyne brace and John Stones header secured all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side as City took a big step in toppling Arsenal off their Premier League perch for the first time since February, with Mikel Arteta and his men looking battered and beaten.
There was little to celebrate from Arsenal supporters on the night, with Aaron Ramsdale keeping the scoreline respectable as Ben White again impressed at right-back, and it was the defender who caused arguably the biggest cheer from fans both at the Etihad and on social media.
The 25-year-old made an incredible block to deny De Bruyne what looked like a certain goal after Erling Haaland played in the Belgian international past the Arsenal defence, yet White did well to deny the City playmaker from increasing the home side’s scoreline.
Indeed, tonight was a night every Arsenal supporter will want to forget about in a heartbeat, yet in the few moments of quality at the Etihad, fans were amazed with what they saw from White against Manchester City’s star midfielder, who could have had a hat-trick.
Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say on Twitter about White’s impressive block on De Bruyne on Twitter.
Brilliant block by Ben White. We would have been 2-0 behind if not for his great defending…COYG.#MCIARS #EPL #COYG— Ari Tumijo (@AriTumijo) April 26, 2023
