Arsenal fans mock 'disgraceful' Mourinho comments from 2004 after what happened last night

Arsenal fans and Jose Mourinho have a love-hate relationship. We hate him when his teams get the better of us, but we absolutely love it when his management annoys every Tottenham fan out there.

What we love even more is when Mourinho’s old, arrogant and disrespectful comments come back to bite him. That happened yesterday and Arsenal fans just can’t stop laughing.

Tottenham bottled an early lead and went on to lose 5-4 to Everton in the FA Cup. The game was fantastic for the neutral but it would’ve been hugely frustrating for Spurs supporters whose defence looked worse than ours was under Unai Emery.

Like Everton last night, Arsenal once battered Spurs 5-4 in a game over 16 years ago. Then Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had a few things to say then and it has come back to bite him hard now.

Mourinho said in 2004: “5-4 is a hockey score, not a football score. In a three-against-three training match, if the score reaches 5-4 I send the players back to the dressing rooms as they are not defending properly. So to get a result like that in a game of 11 against 11 is disgraceful.” (Mirror)

What goes around comes around

Isn’t is funny how life works? Once the king ruling the Premier League thanks to Roman Abramovich’s unlimited supply of money, Mourinho is now just a shadow of the manager he was.

His mind games in press conferences worked brilliantly then, it’s just a bit of fun for the media now. Even some Tottenham fans are fed up with him and he hasn’t even been there for 18 months.

Spurs’ misery is a joy to us and their defeat last night was exactly that. Mourinho’s comments coming back to haunt him makes it even funnier, and Gooners on social media had a right laugh at the Tottenham boss.

Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter
