Arsenal fans react to Fabrizio Romano's latest update about Matteo Guendouzi

This time last year, Matteo Guendouzi was one of Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s most promising young players.

The Frenchman took the Premier League by storm in his first season at the club. He played 48 games in all competitions under Unai Emery, and almost every fan felt he was going to be regular starter for years to come.

However, an incident with Neal Maupay in our defeat to Brighton last season followed by a fallout with Mikel Arteta put his Arsenal career in jeoprady. We tried really hard to sell him the summer but we could only manage a loan deal.

Guendouzi will return to the Emirates in the summer but most fans think he will not be given an opportunity to redeem himself. However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal really appreciate his talent and are open to anything.

He said on the Blind Gooner YouTube channel: “He will be back in the summer. From April, they will have a meeting about the future of players like Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

“They appreciate the talent, they appreciate the player.

“They were thinking like he should be a starter, not just one of the midfielders. For sure, in training, they had problems at Arsenal. But, when a player comes back, lots of situations could change. Arsenal are really open with Matteo as well as with Torreira.”

Should Arsenal reintegrate Guendouzi?

There is absolutely no debate regarding Guendouzi’s talent. He is undoubtedly one of the best young midfielders in world football and he has the potential to become even better in the coming years.

However, his attitude did not sit well with Arteta. The Arsenal boss, as we all know, is a disciplinarian. Players are either on board with his ideas are or they’re out, and clearly, Guendouzi was in the wrong at the end of last season.

If the Frenchman can return a changed man this summer, Arsenal should seriously consider keeping hold of him. If he keeps his head down and works hard, he can become an incredibly important player for us, and supporters want exactly that.
