Arsenal supporters usually have a huge rant as soon as Mikel Arteta releases his team news on match days. However, that wasn’t the case yesterday as fan-favourite Gabriel Martinelli was given the nod from the start.
The Brazilian has barely played since he was substituted at half-time against Manchester United back in January. Arteta’s decision to keep him on the sidelines didn’t sit down too well with the supporters.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
With recent results not going our way either, the Arsenal boss was under a lot of pressure to start Gabi and he finally did. The Brazilian looked sharp and deservedly scored in the second half, and Arteta admitted that he was delighted with the teenager’s performance. (Arsenal.com)
That’s now 16 goals/assists in 21 starts for Martinelli. That is a stunning record for any player, let alone a 19-year-old who nobody had even heard of before the start of last season.
Arsenal fans absolutely love Martinelli and what the Brazilian did after scoring last night will make us love him even more.
The Brazilian and Saka share a celebration together whenever either one of them gets on the score sheet. Sadly, the Englishman wasn’t on the pitch, but Martinelli made sure he celebrated like they always do – even though Saka was sitting in the stands a long way away from him.
Predictably, Arsenal fans loved this.
Martinelli and Saka are our brightest prospects. They are the future of Arsenal and the fact that they maintain an excellent relationship despite the obvious language barrier is excellent news for us.
