The Mail, David Ornstein of The Athletic, Fabrizio Romano and a whole bunch of other media outlets have revealed today that Folarin Balogun has agreed to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the end of this season.
The teenager was labelled a contract rebel by many after it seemed at one point that he wants to leave the club. He was heavily linked with a move away as a free-agent, but thankfully, Mikel Arteta seems to have worked his magic.
Even when the speculation about the teenager’s future was at it’s peak, the Arsenal boss was always adamant that Balogun would stay.
It now looks like it’s only a matter of time before his new deal is announced, and Arteta deserves a ton of credit for convincing the youngster to stay at the club.
Balogun is arguably our most impressive attacking prospect. The youngster showed his quality when he got a chance in the Europa League earlier this season – scoring two goals and picking up an assist in just 61 minutes of game time.
His numbers for the youth teams are truly phenomenal as well. He has a stunning record of 61 goals and 15 assists in 93 appearances across three different age groups over the last few years.
Keeping hold of Balogun was extremely important for Arsenal, especially after we’ve let go of quality youngsters like Serge Gnabry, Donyell Malen, Ismael Bennacer and others over the last few years.
After the disappointment at the Emirates last night, the news about Balogun staying has delighted Arsenal supporters.
