Arsenal fans have a new young gun to watch this season after last night’s performance from one Charlie Patino.
The 17-year-old midfielder captained the U-21 side in their 2-1 EFL Trophy loss to Swindon Town. The Hale End academy graduate might have been on the losing side, but Patino impressed for Arsenal on the night.
The youngster is highly regarded in north London and has often been compared to former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere. Indeed, the scout who discovered Painto has even said the youngster could surpass the ex-England international one day.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Whilst the midfielder might not feature often for Arsenal at a first-team level this season, Patino has done enough this week to prove that he has a future with the senior squad.
A lack of European football will likely mean that the teenager will only feature in the League Cup or FA Cup this season for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Yet on social media, supporters are just excited to have another special talent coming through at Arsenal.
Here’s what some fans had to say on Twitter about Patino after he posted following last night’s game…
First time I have seen this kid play and I was blown away with his quality. Not seen a kid manipulate space and have that burst since another very special gooner @JackWilshere
