Arsenal are readying themselves for a tough trip to Rome where they face Benfica tomorrow in the Europa League.

Mikel Arteta and co are desperate to go all the way in this competition. Winning the Europa League will guarantee a place in next season’s Champions League, and despite what anyone says, we should fancy our chances.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

The Arsenal squad were busy at London Colney yesterday. The club’s official Twitter handle posted an 18-second training clip and Arsenal fans have spotted something incredible.

Kieran Tierney seems to be back in full training. The Scotsman has barely played since the turn of the year and he has been a massive miss.

Cedric Soares has filled in at left-back and to be fair to him, he has fared really well. He has provided good balance between attack and defence, and he has done as well as a right-back could on the opposite side.

However, a left-footer will give us the natural width and crossing ability, and that is key to our game. Tierney’s return is a humongous boost and it will be interesting to see if he will be used straight away on Thursday.

Should Tierney start against Benfica?

The ideal answer would be yes, but Arteta should be careful. We all saw what happened when Thomas Partey was rushed back from injury against Tottenham. We simply cannot afford to take the same risk with Tierney.

Benfica will be a difficult test for us, but it’s nothing Cedric can’t handle. The Portuguese international should keep his place, and a few more days of training will allow Tierney to be fit for the big game against Manchester City this weekend.

Irrespective of whether he plays tomorrow or not, Arsenal fans are buzzing to have him back. Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter.
