Arsenal loanee Daniel Ballard helped Blackpool secure a place in the League One playoffs thanks to a 2-0 win against Doncaster Rovers last night.

The young Irishman has had a phenomenal season on the northwest coast of England. He has played 25 times for the Tangerines in the league this term, and he has become a fan-favourite – so much so that many supporters are urging him to stay for another season.

With a game to spare against bottom place Bristol Rovers, Blackpool are very likely to finish the season in third place. They will be in the playoffs alongside Sunderland, Lincoln City and one of Portsmouth, Charlton Athletic or Oxford United depending on what happens in the final game of the season.

Neil Critchley’s men have been excellent this term. One of the biggest reasons why they are in such a good position at the moment is their defence – which is the join-best in the division having conceded just 37 goals so far.

Ballard has arguably been their best player at the back. The 21-year-old Arsenal man has been incredibly solid, so much so, that his current boss Critchley labelled him as ‘excellent’ earlier this season. (Blackpool Gazette)

The young Arsenal defender took to Twitter last night celebrating his side’s qualification to the playoffs.

It’s safe to say, Blackpool fans absolutely love him. They heaped praise on the 21-year-old’s performances this season, and urged him to stay put beyond the end of his loan spell next month.

Here’s how a few fans reacted to his tweet
