Arsenal new boy Takehiro Tomiyasu is yet to make his way to North London following his transfer deadline day move from Bologna, but he seems to have made a fine impression among Gooners already.

The Japan international emerged as a surprise deadline day target for Arsenal. Edu entered talks with Bologna, agreed a fee and completed the deal in a matter of a few hours, which is very unlike us.

However, a new right-back was an absolute necessity yesterday and credit to Edu and Mikel Arteta for pouncing on the opportunity to bring Tomiyasu in, for what seems like a very good price as well.

Tomiyasu is yet to arrive in London and an official interview hasn’t happened. However, he has sent a video message to Arsenal fans, and every Gooner will love what he has said.

He said in a video posted by Arsenal’s official Twitter handle: “Hi Arsenal supporters, I’m Tomi from Bologna.

“I’m so happy to be a part of this team. I promise you I will give everything to contribute to the team. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the stadium.”

Tomiyasu is a really exciting signing for Arsenal. He’s nowhere near the finished article yet, but he’s still only 22 and based on what he has shown in Italy over the last two seasons, there’s plenty of reason for optimism.
