Arsenal fans’ hearts skipped a beat last Saturday when Gabriel Martinelli walked off the pitch in tears. The Brazilian turned his ankle and the initial reaction was extremely worrying.

Mikel Arteta even claimed after the game that Martinelli’s injury didn’t look good. (Sky Sports) That was heartbreaking considering everything the youngster had been through over the last six months.

Thankfully, Arsenal confirmed yesterday that Martinelli’s injury wasn’t as bad as expected. (Read here) Our medical staff revealed he will be back soon, and they weren’t wrong. The Brazilian was back on the training ground today and he looks fine.

That is a massive boost for us. Martinelli’s presence in our attack makes us a lot more dangerous. His energy, directness and his fearless attitude with the ball at his feet is a joy to watch, and Arteta will be glad that he is back.

The Arsenal boss is a huge fan of Martinelli. He claimed last month that the young Brazilian transmits positivity among the squad and revealed that he is ‘ruthless’ in training every single day. (Arsenal.com)

It will be interesting to see if Martinelli will be available for tomorrow night’s game against Crystal Palace. Arteta should not rush him back if he isn’t fully ready, but he will surely be tempted to have him on the bench at the very least.

Arsenal fans on social media are stunned by Martinelli’s rapid recovery. Many feared the worst when we saw him go down in pain on Saturday, but to be back in training just a few days later is simply brilliant.

Supporters were delighted to see Arsenal’s 14-second clip of Martinelli in training.

Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter
