The international break bores the life out of all of us, but it also gives us a chance to watch some of Europe’s finest young talents in action for their countries.
Some Arsenal fans were glued to their couch watching the Netherlands get battered by Turkey in their World Cup qualifier in Istanbul last night.
Holland were woeful throughout the game. Burak Yilmaz got himself a well-deserved hat-trick and a goal from Hakan Calhanoglu fired the Turks to an excellent 4-2 victory as they set their sights on a place in the World Cup next year.
The Dutch didn’t have too much to celebrate last night apart from a late cameo from debutant Ryan Gravenberch. The 18-year-old came on for the final eight minutes of the game, and although he didn’t do much, Arsenal fans saw something really special in him.
Arsenal fans want Edu to sign Ryan Gravenberch
Still only 18, Gravenberch has already been labelled as ‘the new Paul Pogba’. (Daily Mail) Having played 50 times for Ajax already, it’s only a matter of time before a big club snaps him up.
Arsenal fans want Edu to go all out for him this summer, and a move really does make sense.
The Gunners are expected to sell Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira this summer. Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles may also face the same fate, while Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard will head back to Real Madrid.
There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that we will be looking for a new midfielder this summer, and Gravenberch checks most of the boxes.
He is young, extremely talented and the fact that he will only have two years left on his contract this summer may help us in transfer negotitions.
