Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta spoke to the media after his side’s convincing 4-1 victory over Rapid Wien in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Gunners were 3-0 up at the break thanks to a stunner from Alexandre Lacazette followed by goals from Pablo Mari and Eddie Nketiah. Emile Smith Rowe came on as a substitute in the second half and scored his first goal of the season to round off a brilliant Arsenal win.

Mari looked very good on his return to the side. The Spaniard was out with an ankle problem since June and his performance today is a huge positive for Arteta. Calum Chambers also returned after almost a year on the sidelines, but the good news doesn’t stop just there.

The focus of Arteta’s press conference was on the North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday. That is our biggest game of the season yet, and the Arsenal boss has hinted that a very important player could return from injury.

Partey could return against Tottenham

Arteta told Football London after the game: “He (Thomas Partey) is putting a lot of pressure on us. He’s training tomorrow with us and let’s see how it goes in the next couple of days.”

That is the news every Arsenal fan was hoping for. If Partey returns to full fitness by Sunday, the whole mood around the club will change. Our midfield will instantly look a lot more solid, and our chances of a derby win will go up considerably.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is renowned for his mind games in press conferences. However, some Arsenal fans feel that Arteta has pulled one over the former Chelsea and Manchester United man.

The Spaniard said after Sunday’s defeat to Wolves that Partey’s thigh injury is a serious one and claimed that the Ghanaian will miss ‘the next few games’ as a result. (Football London)

Four days later, Arteta’s comments hint that Partey could be available for the game against Tottenham, and Arsenal fans absolutely love it.

Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter
