'No no no': Some Arsenal fans react as Edu and Arteta eye move for nine-goal PL star

90Min revealed yesterday that Arsenal are planning to revive their previous interest in Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha this summer.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Ivorian back in the summer of 2019. Unai Emery was desperate to sign him, but a deal for Zaha proved to be too expensive for us, and we signed Nicolas Pepe instead.

Zaha is still at Crystal Palace. He still wants his move to a bigger club, but it looked like his dreams were fading away. However, if the latest report is to be believed, Arsenal could make his dream come true this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s men are expected to be very active in the upcoming transfer window. The Gunners need strengthening in multiple areas of the pitch, but do we really need another wide player?

Arsenal have Gabriel Martinelli, Willian, Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Willian at the moment. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe have also played out wide, which eliminates the need for a new winger.

Zaha has played up front for Palace in the past. With Alexandre Lacazette expected to leave the club this summer, Arteta might be considering the Ivorian as a replacement, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it?

The only reason why we will be letting Lacazette leave is his age. The Frenchman is 29 and giving him a new long-term deal would make no sense whatsoever, especially after what has happened with Auba and Willian this season.

Zaha, who has scored nine times this term, will turn 29 midway through next season. He may not demand the wages that Lacazette is currently earning, but it still makes very little sense to fork out millions on transfer fee for a player of his age.

Arsenal fans don’t really understand why Arteta and Edu are planning another more for Zaha.
