Gabriel Magalhaes has returned to training after missing over a month due to an injury he picked up while on international duty with Brazil.

The former Lille man hurt his knee and was sadly ruled out for the Olympics that Brazil ended up winning. He has missed the start of the new season as well, but there could finally be some good news coming our way.

Arsenal released a medical update yesterday ahead of our game against West Brom in the Carabao Cup. The report confirmed that ‘Gabriel is progressing well and is now back in training with the squad,’  which is fantastic news for us.

Gabriel Magalhaes injury has really hurt Arsenal

The media will try to tell you otherwise but Gabriel was among the best defenders in the league last season. He was incredible in his first few months here, and despite a dip in form caused by illness around the festive period, he ended the campaign reasonably well.

Arsenal have played two and lost two so far this season and the left side of our central defence has become a problem position. Don’t get us wrong, Pablo Mari is brilliant in his own right, but he has struggled in our opening two games, which has cost us.

With Gabriel now back in training, it’s only a matter of time before he returns to the starting eleven. It’s unlikely that he will play a part tonight, but he could be fit to face Manchester City this weekend, which would be a huge boost for us.

Pictures of Gabriel back training at London Colney seems to have lifted the mood among fans.

We’re in desperate need of positivity at the moment, and the Brazilian’s return can definitely be viewed as one after what has been a torrid few weeks.
