According to a report from The Athletic, Arsenal and Newcastle United are both interested in signing Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo this summer.
The Lilywhites were officially relegated last week after what has been a really frustrating season. Fulham improved a lot after a terrible start to the campaign, but that wasn’t enough to keep them up in the top-flight.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Scott Parker will be hoping to make a swift return to the Premier League next year, but he will have to do so without a number of his key stars. One such player is Adarabioyo, who has been a mainstay in Fulham’s defence this term.
Joachim Andersen’s brilliant performances stole all the headlines, but Adarabioyo was just as solid next to the Dane. He played 31 games in the league for the Lilywhites, and although he couldn’t save them from the drop, he may just have earned himself a big move this summer.
David Luiz replacement?
It has been widely reported at this point that David Luiz will be leaving Arsenal at the end of this season. The Brazilian has been a real leader at the back for us, and his departure means that Mikel Arteta will have to bring a quality replacement in.
The Arsenal boss knows Adarabioyo very well thanks to their time together at Manchester City. That may well be the reason behind Arteta’s desire to sign him, and if the interest really is genuine, we should be able to get him quite comfortably.
Arsenal fans, however, aren’t fully convinced. Replacing Luiz with an experienced player who can lead our backline is what is needed, but to sign a relegated 23-year-old who has had just a year’s experience in the Premier League doesn’t make a lot of sense to many people.
