Arsenal take on Slavia Prague in the Czech capital tomorrow in what is undoubtedly our most important game of the season yet.
Mikel Arteta’s men shot themselves in the foot in the final minute of the first leg. We were 1-0 up and comfortable, but a silly error in the dying moments of the game has given Slavia an advantage going into the return leg tomorrow.
Arsenal have to score in Prague tomorrow night. Anything but a win will be a disastrous result for us, and Gooners on Twitter think that the club’s PR team have a big announcement planned if we get knocked out of the Europa League.
In his press conference today, Arteta revealed that Arsenal are very close to tying down Folarin Balogun on a long-term contract. (Official website) Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, on the other hand, has claimed on Twitter that the new deal has already been signed.
That has confused Arsenal supporters. If everything’s signed and sealed, why haven’t we made an announcement yet?
Some Gooners have a theory.
A section of Arsenal supporters on social media are convinced that Arsenal are holding back the announcement until after tomorrow’s game. They feel that Balogun’s contract renewal will be used to appease fans in case we crash out of the competition.
