Mundo Deportivo revealed yesterday that Arsenal sporting director Edu and his men are closely monitoring the situation of Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal, who is currently on loan at Real Betis.
The report claims that the Catalans and the Verdiblancos co-own the Brazilian at the moment. Barca are obligated to acquire Emerson’s full rights for £7.75 million this summer, but they don’t really need him.
Ronald Koeman’s side already have Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto. Both players have done incredibly well at right-back when they’ve played there, which eliminates the need for Barca to keep hold of Emerson this summer.
Arsenal are looking to take advantage of the situation and sign the talented 22-year-old. Emerson has all the qualities to become a top full-back in the very near future, and he would be an amazing signing for us.
Hector Bellerin is reportedly considering his future at the Emirates. (CBS Sports) The Spaniard is expected by many to be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Emerson would be a very good replacement.
The Brazilian has scored five goals and has provided 10 assists for Betis in all competitions since the start of last season. He is one of the best full-backs in La Liga and he will not be short of offers if Barca put him on the market.
Arsenal fans, predictably, are delighted with news.
Many feel that Emerson is a big upgrade to Bellerin and that he is exactly the kind of player we should be looking at in the summer transfer window.
