Arsenal fans have reacted with glee as Mikel Arteta today confirmed that Kieren Tierney is expected to be in contention for tomorrow’s massive UEFA Europa League game against Villarreal.
Speaking to the press via football.london, the Spanish manager revealed that Tierney, as well as club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and attacker Alexandre Lacazette, all have a chance in featuring in tomorrow’s huge fixture against the La Liga side, who are managed by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
The Guardian reported at the start of the month that the Scottish international could miss the rest of the season after picking up a knee injury against Liverpool, yet Arteta’s comments seem to indicate that the initial diagnosis was less harmful than first thought, and Arsenal fans on social media were delighted that the defender could well play again this campaign.
Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about Arteta’s comments on Tierney on Twitter…
Even if KT isn’t back for tomorrow, it’s not the end of the world. The thought of him being able to play in the second leg and potential final is absolutely huge! What a positive start to the day!

Tierney’s time with Arsenal since joining from Celtic has been plagued with injuries, with the defender missing months at a time due to various knocks picked up.
