Arsenal’s performance against Southampton last night was completely unrecognisable to our display in the FA Cup three days ago.
Yes, Mikel Arteta brought his big guns back into the side, but a few players who looked poor on Saturday were fantastic last night.
One such player is Cedric Soares. The Portugal international was forced to play at left-back again due to Kieran Tierney’s absence. He had a shocking game at the weekend but he was one of the best players on the pitch yesterday.
Cedric was facing his former club as well and many Saints fans mocked his performance at the weekend.
The now 29-year-old spent over four seasons at the St. Mary’s and was a decent little player. Cedric played 138 games for the Saints in all competitions during his time there.
His forced loan move to Inter Milan in January 2019 didn’t sit down well with a few fans, and his departure to Arsenal made things worse.
Even at Arsenal, many criticised Edu and Mikel Arteta for bringing him in. He was labelled a flop and nobody expected him to succeed.
It is fair to say, everyone was impressed with his display last night, even Southampton supporters.
Many Saints fans took to Twitter to acknowledge Cedric’s performance against their side. Some even claimed that he looked better yesterday than he did in his 138 games for Southampton over the years.
