The Telegraph revealed yesterday that Arsenal are interested in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer.

The Gunners will need a new striker for next season if Alexandre Lacazette is sold in the coming weeks. We can’t go into the new campaign with just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up top, even though he’ll be one of the best in the world if he regains his form.

Arsenal will need a new striker and Abraham is an interesting option. The Englishman scored 12 goals and provided six assists in just 18 starts last season. He is almost guaranteed to be sold by Chelsea this summer, and the Blues are demanding a staggering £40 million for him.

Should Arsenal sign Tammy Abraham?

Abraham offers something different to what Arsenal currently have.

He is similar to Lacazette in terms of holding the ball up, and he’s also capable of running in behind just like Auba, but he’ll also be a huge threat in the air. That’s something we’ve lacked since Olivier Giroud left us in January 2018.

Abraham is still only 23 as well. He is nowhere near his peak yet and under the right manager, he could develop into a fine player in the coming years.

That could be why Arsenal are keen to sign him, but £40 million for someone who only started 12 league games last season might just be a bit too much.
