Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield this evening and Thomas Partey remains a doubt due to his injury.

The Ghanaian has been incredible for Arsenal this season. He missed the first few games due to an ankle problem, but since his return, he has played a big part in helping us turn our season around.

Partey, unfortunately, picked up a groin injury in training just before the international break. He missed our last game against Watford, and if Arteta is to be believed, he’s facing a race against time to be fit for tomorrow.

Thomas Partey injury: Arteta shares the latest

Arteta faced the media yesterday ahead of his side’s clash at Anfield. The Gunners boss, predictably, was quizzed about Partey’s availability.

He said, as per Arsenal.com: “Let’s see how everybody is, we have to see them today before assessing them and making a judgement on how everybody is.

“He (Partey) could not play for the national team, he really tried to do that because they had a massive game and he really pushed for that one, but he wasn’t close enough to do that.

“Again, it’s something we have to assess today because he hasn’t done enough [preparation work].”

The Insider’s View:

Losing Partey would be a humongous blow for Arsenal. The Ghanaian is undoubtedly our best midfielder and his absence will surely make it a lot easier for Liverpool to break us down.

However, we believe that Partey will start this evening.

The Ghanaian was involved in full training yesterday and Arsenal didn’t include him in their pre-game fitness report. That could be a big hint ahead of the game today, but we can’t say for sure.

It will be interesting to see how Partey fares against Liverpool if he passes the fitness test. Playing at Anfield is never easy, but the Ghanaian bossed the game at Old Trafford last season and he’s more than capable of doing the same in the red part of Merseyside later today.
