Brentford manager says Arsenal are the second-best team in Premier League

Arsenal take on Brentford on Sunday and Bees boss Thomas Frank has hailed the Gunners as the second-best team in the Premier League at the moment.

Mikel Arteta picked up the Manager of the Month award yesterday after a truly sensational start to the season. We’ve won five out of our first six games in the league and are on top of the table as a result.

Frank, who will try to get one over us tomorrow, seems impressed.

Brentford manager says Arsenal are the second-best team in Premier League

Even though Arsenal are on top of the league table at the moment, we are not on the same level as clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have looked shocking this campaign, but that doesn’t mean they’re suddenly a bad team. They’ll definitely be up there at the end of this season, but Arsenal fans should be really proud of the way our lads have started the campaign.

Frank has studied the Gunners ahead of the game tomorrow, and he believes that only Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are better than Arsenal at the moment.

He said, as quoted by Football London: “We are playing against a very good side.

“It was one thing to beat them a year ago. For me, now, after Manchester City, they are the best performing side in the Premier League.

“I said to the players today that we will need to be able to suffer and defend very well. If we do that then I’m convinced we will have our opportunities throughout the game. No doubt this will be our biggest challenge so far.”

The Insider’s View:

In the same fixture last year, Arsenal were humiliated at the Brentford Community Stadium.

It was the first game of the season and we had a lot of COVID issues to deal with, but Brentford really stepped up and picked up a 2-0 win on the opening day.

That defeat will still be fresh in most players’ minds, but this is a completely different Arsenal side now. We’ve come a long way in the last 12 months, and our position in the table speaks for itself.

It really will be a tricky game tomorrow, but if Arsenal really are the second-best side in the Premier League, we should be able to beat Brentford quite comfortably.
