Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Kieran Tierney today and claimed that the Scotsman and only two other Arsenal players have the capacity to lift the Emirates crowd with a single action on the pitch.
The former Celtic man has been a fan favourite at Arsenal ever since he made his debut. His quality alone is magnificent, but his attitude, leadership, commitment and just the way he carries himself has made supporters fall in love with him.
Arteta is a big fan of Tierney and he claims that the Scotsman transmits every value he wants at our football club. He believes that the defender can lift the atmosphere around the Emirates singlehandedly – a quality that only two other Arsenal players have.
Mikel Arteta: Kieran Tierney can lift the crowd with one action
He told Arsenal.com: “There is another character in this dressing room that transmits every value that I would like to transmit to the club and (to) our fans, [and it is Kieran]. He’s young, hungry, talented, and is a person with huge desire, and again he has all four ingredients.
“He didn’t want to talk about anything other than staying here. He had a really, really good season after a really difficult start at the club and I really value people that when things aren’t going for them, they don’t give up. Kieran didn’t give up.
“That character, I think it shows on the pitch – when anything happens that is not going for us, you don’t give up, you just raise your level, try to be better and transmit that to the rest of the team so they all believe.”
“Kieran has this capacity, and Emile (Smith Rowe) as well, to lift the crowd with an action, Gabi Martinelli has this capacity – and this is something you either have or you don’t have.”
The Insider’s View:
Tierney, Smith Rowe, Martinelli and even Bukayo Saka really stand out with this trait. The common theme among all four of them is their fearlessness on the football pitch, and that is exactly why fans love them so much.
Arsenal supporters should be really excited about the future. All four of them are still young and Arteta has convinced all of them to sign long-term contracts. They’re the present and the future of our football club, and we simply can’t wait to see them develop and become even better in the coming years.
