Arsenal take on Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge in a game that means very little to Mikel Arteta’s side. However, a London derby is always a special occasion, and nothing but a win is an acceptable result for either side.

The Gunners’ record away at Chelsea is horrendous. We haven’t won a game at Stamford Bridge since Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick there back in October 2011 – a record that we must set straight. (

Arteta’s job may not be on the line just yet, but the clock is ticking and he needs to end this season strongly. That is why we think he will name a very strong lineup against Chelsea tonight.

Calum Chambers and Rob Holding will likely keep their place at the back, while Pablo Mari and Kieran Tierney are expected to start on the left side of our back-four.

We expect Arteta to stick with Mohamed Elneny in the middle of the park and the Egyptian will be joined by Thomas Partey. The former Atletico Madrid man has received a ton of criticism for his performances this season, but with a more defensive partner next to him, he should fare well.

Emile Smith Rowe hobbled off with cramp on Sunday and the Englishman is not expected to start as a result. Martin Odegaard replaces him in attacking midfield with Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang featuring either side of him.

After two substitute appearances against Villarreal and West Brom, we expect Alexandre Lacazette to return from the start.

In 12 appearances against Chelsea, the Frenchman has scored just two goals, which is simply not good enough. He will be hoping to change that tonight, but it will not be easy considering how good the Blues have been since Thomas Tuchel took over.

Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Willian will all drop down to the bench. It is slightly unfair on the latter two after scoring last weekend, but Arsenal have to name their strongest eleven tonight and sadly, they aren’t quite there yet.

Here’s how we think Arsenal will lineup tonight:
