Arsenal take on Ireland’s Dundalk in the Europa League later this evening. The Gunners have secured the top spot in the group and many view this game as an opportunity for Mikel Arteta to give a chance to the kids.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Bernd Leno, David Luiz, Granit Xhaka and Hector Bellerin have not travelled, while Reiss Nelson and Sead Kolasinac are set to miss out due to minor injuries.

Arsenal fans would love to see the youngsters showcase their skills today, but not many will get a chance from the start. Senior players who aren’t getting enough game time in the Premier League will be given the nod, and there are plenty of them.

Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elneny, Eddie Nketiah and Nicolas Pepe are also expected to start against Dundalk this evening. Kieran Tierney deserves a rest and since Kolasinac is out injured, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be forced to start at left-back.

Mustafi could be dropped

Pablo Mari started his first game in a few months last week and he is expected to keep his place. Calum Chambers will likely get his first start in almost a year and Alex Runarsson will start behind the duo.

That would be sad news for Shkodran Mustafi who has been a regular in the competition. The £35 million man has rejected a new contract at Arsenal, (Football London) and it’s only right for Arteta to pick players who will be with us beyond the end of this season.

Joe Willock will start in the middle of the park alongside Elneny. The most exciting selection, however, will likely be that of Emile Smith Rowe in the number 10 role.

The youngster scored last week and Arsenal fans want to see him start. There is no better time for Arteta to use him than in the game in Ireland this evening.

Nketiah will lead the line and Pepe will start in his natural right-wing position. Folarin Balogun deserves to start as well, but he is likely to feature on the left flank.

The teenager is one of our brightest prospects and starting out wide shouldn’t make any difference. He will find himself alongside Nketiah more often than not, and another good display will give Arteta an even bigger selection headache.
