Arsenal face Manchester City this weekend at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Arsenal have the chance to win their first League Cup since 1993, and only the second trophy of the Mikel Arteta era.

Usually, you would expect this game to be treated with an air of seriousness, but, apparently, Arsenal are taking a relaxed approach to this weekend’s game.

Paul Merson fancies Arsenal to win the cup, but the Gunners aren’t getting too stressed out here.

Arsenal downplaying Carabao Cup final importance

According to Miguel Delaney speaking on his YouTube channel, Arsenal are approaching this cup final in a leisurely fashion.

Indeed, Delaney says there’s an element of calmness coming out of the camp right now, claiming that is a contrast between how Arsenal have been approaching league games in recent times.

“Arsenal are the team that are in the better mood where nothing has, as yet, gone you’d say very badly wrong they feel in a good place now as a team,” Delaney said.

“From what I’m told, the mood in the camp is one where the final is almost actually being downplayed a bit.

“There’s a calmness which marks such a contrast from you know one of the major characteristics of this season which is how every single Arsenal game or almost every single game has been ramped up.”

Arsenal have bigger fish to fry

Arsenal are taking a calm approach to this cup final, and that may be the right way to go about things.

Arsenal have bigger fish to fry in other competitions, and approaching this game with calmness means that they can’t get too upset even if they lose.

These parts of a season are all about the mental side of things, and if you put too much pressure on yourself, you can set up to fail.

Steven Gerrard has previously spoken about how he was too emotionally involved in Liverpool’s title race in 2014 and how that may have affected him and his infamous slip at the time, and it would appear Arsenal are wary of putting too much weight on certain occasions.

Arsenal would love to win on Sunday, but if they don’t it’s hardly the end of the world.
