A Win Would Be Handy

So on the night Arsenal return to Europe, so I return to posting. Having taken a break over the Summer due to a mixture of work, tiredness and growing bored of the infantile comments. Anyway a new season brings a new start so here goes…bearing in mind this is my equivalent of a pre-season post i shall work my way in with a short one.  So Sparta Prague again, a team we’re reasonably familiar with. There best player is an overweight ex West Ham player who is now really old, so in an ideal world they shouldn’t pose too much of a problem. They are certainly no better than Zagreb who we dispatched with some ease last year, Zagreb of course at least having one player who turned out to be good enough to play for us. In reality though, any game such as this could turn out to be a banana skin so a professional performance from the boys, which needs to start with solidity and a clean sheet and preferably a goal apiece for a striker and a midfielder would be lovely. It looks like we are playing exactly the same team as on Sunday and i must say i would quite like Eboue to play well as i do think he could be quite a success on the wing. Theo coming on and playing well would good, other than that i just hope for clean sheet central…you hear that Jens?  All in all at this very embryonic stage of the season things couldn’t be going much better for us really, 3 points from 3 for us, Sp*rs on 0 from 6 and Chelski looking like they want to play us at our own game, which of course they will get played off the park attempting to do against anybody with actual football players. I certainly would fancy us against them. On the captaincy issue, we don’t really have a natural captain in the side. Gilberto will never be one of my favourite players, his technical weakness at passing often slows our game down and as well as he played last year alot of people seem to have been swayed by his ability to score a penalty which is hardly the most important thing in a defensive midfielder. I love Kolo but i don’t think he is a shouter and screamer. With Gallas we get a nasty bastard who clearly wants to win and will give people a kick up the arse, he can have it for 2 years and then we can use the captaincy as a carrot for Cesc in a protracted transfer saga. Woohoo! Anybody buying Setanta just for this game?
