So as we are off to Ewood park for a crucial fixture, especially considering that Man U is playing its derby and the other two are playing each other, three points from this fixture could really put us in a decent position. Blackburn is our general nemesis though we did play against them quite well last season. Going by the Middlesbrough game, Hughes can be expected to start with a flat 4-4-2 with Santa Cruz and Roberts upfront.
Their main threat would be as always from the wings, David Bentley on the right and Pedersen on the left. It would be great to see how Sagna deals with Pedersen. I expect Pedersen to be nullified by Sagna completely. Clichy was slightly below his game against Sparta in the defensive department. But Bentley is never really going to trouble him. Robbie Savage will be at his irritating best in the middle and Dunn would look to add the creative spark. The partnership between Samba and Nelsen has come in for rave reviews so far. They are tall strong defenders, so if Eduardo or Bendtner are going to head anything today, it would really be worth celebrating.
Warnock is a slight weak link in the defence which we should look to exploit. Emerton is a decent player and can come up with decent crosses from right back. Brad Friedel is a good shot stopper, so any half struck shots would really turn into anything more than corners. Arsenal has a big task on their hands with both Rosicky and Eboue out. Considering that Eboue would also be going away for African nations, I really hope Wenger buys a right winger. What Wenger might do tomorrow is that he may play Hleb on the left and Walcott on the right in a flat 4-4-2 formation where Eduardo may start upfront. I do not completely agree with such a formation since a light player like Theo against a physical side of Blackburn is not the brightest of ideas. Also, with Theo not really showing ability to play in the wings other that run at defenders, I suspect this move might lead to Warnock looking better than what he actually is. Instead, I would prefer if Hleb starts on the left wing and Eduardo starts on the right wing.
Eduardo and Van Persie are player who like to drop wide so it could be a fluid system on the right with one covering for the other. And I really hope the other striker playing is Bendtner since his strength and ability and desire to go or aerial balls means he will pull away with one of Samba or Nelsen, for every aerial ball thus giving space for our other player, something similar to what he did against Fulham in the dying minutes. Bendtner may be untested but I really think it is a better idea than playing Walcott on the wing. Hope you prove me wrong, Theo! Central midfield would again be under pressure due to its size. This time Wenger does have the choice in playing Denilson instead of Flamini. But Denilson would be rusty falling his injury so playing Flamini is the best option we currently have. I really think that it would have been helpful to have had Djourou would have made better cover than Song in the centre of midfield. He played in that position at the end of last season and looked very comfortable.
Final Prediction- I really expect us to win this one. We are a confidence team and its really high at the moment. I guess the score would be 3-1 with a couple of goals from Van Persie and one from the midfield or Bendtner.
