Arsenal legend Ian Wright has given his verdict on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal have already identified Evan Ferguson as their main transfer target for next summer, with the Brighton forward expected to cost at least £100 million by that point.
It is easy to see why Mikel Arteta is so keen to bring the teenager to the Emirates Stadium. Ferguson further enhanced his rapidly growing reputation with a well-taken hat-trick against Newcastle United last time out in the Premier League.
Despite being just 18-years-old, the Irishman already looks set to be one of the stand out goalscorers in the top flight of English football this season.

Ferguson enjoyed a breakout campaign at the Amex Stadium last season, netting ten goals in 25 appearances in all competitions. He now looks to have taken his game to the next level, and has scored four Premier League goals already this season.
Arsenal already have some fantastic forwards on their books. Gabriel Jesus can be electrifying up front, and Eddie Nketiah’s excellent early season form saw him recently called up to Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad for the first time.

However, if Ferguson continues developing at his current rate, then if he were to arrive at the north London club next summer it would represent a seismic statement of intent. Not least of the Gunners’ desire to seriously compete with Manchester City, who have Erling Haaland spearheading their attack.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright would love to see Ferguson make the move to his former club. Speaking to Premier League Productions, Wright recently said, “when you look at him, the way he plays, his appreciation for the game, his movement and finishing both feet, good in the air and good pace. He has all the attributes at 18. Very mature in the way he plays. All he has to do is keep doing what he is doing…He is fearless at 18…We know Brighton, at some stage, they will sell him.”
With their club-record £105 million capture of Declan Rice this summer, the Arsenal hierarchy showed that they’re willing to back Arteta in the market and splash out for top talents. That trend must continue. The Gunners already need to be laying the groundwork now to ensure that, when the time comes, they are in pole position to secure Ferguson’s services.
