Arsenal’s priority transfer target this summer is Declan Rice, and former Gunner Matteo Guendouzi could help us sign the West Ham star.

Guendouzi joined Unai Emery’s Arsenal back in the summer of 2018 and became an instant hit. He was a fan favourite at the Emirates and everyone expected him to become a star for us.

However, disciplinary issues forced Mikel Arteta to banish him from the Arsenal squad and eventually sell him. Now, the Frenchman could help us sign Rice this summer.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Matteo Guendouzi could help Arsenal sign Declan Rice this summer

It is no secret at this point that Declan Rice is Arsenal’s top transfer target in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Englishman, still only 24, is one of the best players in his position in the Premier League, and he would take our midfield to a whole new level if Arteta and Edu can bring him in this summer.

West Ham will try their best to keep hold of Rice, but with just a year left on his contract, there’s a big chance he’ll leave the London Stadium.

If David Ornstein’s report on The Athletic is to be believed, West Ham are preparing themselves for life after Rice, and they’ve identified former Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi as a possible replacement for the Englishman.

If Guendouzi agrees to join the Hammers this summer ahead of other clubs that will surely be interested in signing him, that may well soften West Ham’s stance on selling Rice.

That could really help us out as Rice would be a phenomenal signing for Arsenal this summer. Guendouzi too, despite his flaws, would be an excellent player for the Hammers.

West Ham want £100m

Declan Rice is an unbelievable midfielder, and the fact that he’s still only 24 means he will only get better in the coming years. That makes him extremely valuable.

Arsenal fans are hoping that West Ham will not demand too much money for Rice considering he will enter the final year of his contract this summer. But, it is important to remember that David Moyes’ side have an option to extend that by another 12 months.

ESPN report this week that the Hammers are expected to demand £100 million for Rice. That’s well over what Arsenal’s transfer record is, which makes this a difficult deal to complete.

However, if there’s one player in the Premier League who we should spend the big bucks on, it’s Rice.
