Besiktas are making progress in their bid to secure the services of Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe.
As reported by journalist Gokmen Ozcan, Besiktas are working on a deal for Nicolas Pepe. However, the structure and terms of the agreement are still to be ratified between Arsenal and the Turkish club.
There is no question that Arsenal are hoping to move Pepe on this summer. However, the north London club are reluctant to cancel the Ivorian’s contract. A loan deal, with an option for Besiktas to make the switch permanent included, is what is currently being worked on.
It is obvious why Arsenal would be very hesitant to cancel the Ivorian winger’s contract. Having spent £72 million to bring Pepe to the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners will be keen to recoup even a minimal fee for him.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
What’s more, having cancelled the contracts of Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in recent years, that is definitely a habit they need to get out of.

Arsenal must get Pepe out
The most important thing, though, for all concerned is to get Pepe a move away from north London. He has no chance for featuring for Arsenal, and needs to go and get his career back on track elsewhere. He has the quality to impress in Turkey, and with some confidence in his game, could become a star for Besiktas.
Arsenal need to move Pepe on and consign the mistake of signing the 28-year-old in the first place to the club’s history books. Not only is that in the best interest’s of the player, but getting his wages off the books and clearing space in the squad for new arrivals is a must.
Arteta and Edu will be hoping that negotiations with Besiktas can be brought to a successful close quickly and that Pepe can be moved on with a minimum of fuss.
