Ben White is finally an Arsenal player and Mikel Arteta made him work really hard in his first training session at London Colney yesterday.
The 23-year-old Englishman completed his move to Arsenal on Friday. The Gunners splashed £50 million for his signature, making him our third most expensive signing of all-time behind Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. (Sky Sports)
White is a fantastic player. He can play anywhere across central defence, at right-back and also in defensive midfield. He is incredibly composed on the ball and his range of passing is absolutely fantastic for a central defender.
Arsenal may have forked out a ton of money, but White really could be worth every penny. If everything goes to plan, he could be a mainstay in our backline for the next decade, and that would make the £50 million we’ve paid for him seem like a real bargain.
The Gunners released a seven-minute video of White being put through his paces by Arsenal’s coaching staff yesterday. The intensity definitely made him tired, but he didn’t look too bad considering that it was only his first training session since the end of the Euros.
After training, White took to Twitter to thank Arsenal fans for all the messages since his signing. ‘First session banked!’, he claimed, and there will be many more of that before he’s ready to start for us in the Premier League.
