Santos wonderkid Kaiky spoke to ESPN Brasil today about his future amid reported interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Gazeta Esportiva reported about a week ago that the three Premier League giants have been in constant contact with his agent over a potential move. It was claimed that Arsenal were thinking of a bid that would see Kaiky move to the Emirates once he turns 18 next year.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Gunners technical director Edu has incredible connections in Brazil. If Arsenal are looking for a player in or from South America, we should have the upper hand – just look at our deals for Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and even Pablo Mari.
The key difference here is that the above-mentioned players wanted to move to the Emirates when we expressed an interest. Kaiky, on the other hand, is not ready to leave his beloved Santos for Arsenal or any other club anytime soon.
Kaiky: I don’t want to leave Santos
He said: “This conversation is more with my agent, but my thoughts at the moment are with Santos.
“I love this club very much, I don’t want to leave soon. I want to win many titles here, it’s the club I support, the club of my heart. I’m hoping to build a beautiful story here, win many titles and then think about the way out.”
That is a minor blow for Arsenal, but it doesn’t mean that he is untouchable. As long as Kaiky is in Brazil, Edu’s connections should help us maintain a good relationship with him and his representatives.
Kaiky is definitely one to keep an eye on. The teenager has been compared to Brazil legend Thiago Silva already (Football Talent Scout), and if he can even get close to being as good as the Chelsea star, he will have a fine career at the top level.
The answer from Kaiky at the moment is a big no, but things change very quickly in football. The Brazilian will turn 18 in January next year, and that is when clubs from across the globe will come in with offers.
Hopefully, Edu can work his magic and bring him to Arsenal.
