Speaking to LiveScore, Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has delivered his verdict on Barcelona starlet and reported Arsenal target Ilaix Moriba.

El Gol Digital revealed about a month ago that the Gunners are interested in signing the Barcelona wonderkid who will have just a year left on his contract at the Camp Nou this summer.

Barca are doing everything they possibly can to tie down Moriba to a new deal, but the riches of the English clubs could be enough to lure him away. Arsenal, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, are reportedly in the race for his signature.

Niguez has now had his say on Moriba’s progression. He has seen the youngster play a few times for the senior side now, and he feels that the 18-year-old is the ‘next’ big thing to come out of Barca.

He said: “Another one to come out of Barcelona is Illaix Moriba, I think he’s the next midfielder.

“He’s complete and has good game vision, he finds the areas well. The other day he played El Clasico (against Real Madrid) and he looked like he had already played in 20 or more.”

Moriba’s potential is huge

Still only 18, Moriba has the world at his feet. The young midfielder has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the world in the coming years, but he has to decide his future wisely.

He is at an age where a move to some of the bigger clubs abroad will seem very attractive. Mikel Arteta giving young players regular chances is enticing for youngsters watching from the outside, but staying at Barca might just be the best thing for him.

However, if he wants to join Arsenal, we’ll welcome him with open arms. He would fit into our system brilliantly, and any money we will invest on him now will surely be doubled or even tripled in a few years time.

If an opportunity arises to sign Moriba, Edu and Arteta should do everything they possibly can to get a deal done.
