Nine Gunners played in International fixtures for their countries yesterday and most came through Unscathed.
B. Sagna – Played a full game with France who beat Lithuania one nil courtesy of a goal from Franck Ribery.
W. Gallas – also played a full game with France, who started their campaign diastrously now have a chance to redeem themselves by acquiring second spot in their group if they beat Lithuania in the return fixture in Paris next Wednesday.
Emmanuel Adebayor – played for Togo with the striker scoring a goal after the 11th minute and playing 90 minutes. This will ensure his match fitness for the coming Gunner campaign, and contrary to media reports the striker went with the permission of Arsene Wenger. Togo have made a good start with their first game in the hope of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, as they lie second in Group A of the African zone.
Andrey Arshavin – Our Russian star played a full game in their 2-nil win over Azerbaijan which moves them into second place with a game in hand
Robin van Persie – Played just over an hour before coming off injured for The Netherlands who remain top of their The dutchman scored a wonderful glancing header late in the first half in his country’s 3-nil home win over Scotland. the incident was described as a knock on the head and he was substituted as a precaution. We await further news.
Aaron Ramsey – Wales the young welshman played just over half an hour as they crash to a 2-nil defeat against Finland. The chances of qualifying from their current fourth place are all but remote.
Samir Nasri – France Our midfield wizard came on as a substitute against Lithuania
Niklas Bendtner – For Denmark, our striker played half an hour before leaving the field with a knee injury against Malta in the 3-nil victory which takes the side above Hungary on goal difference with a game in hand to top their group.
Johan Djourou – with Switzerland played for 5 mins as his country’s side moved above Israel into second place in their qualifying group.
Phillipe Senderos also played for Switzerland and he had a good game according to Insider updates on the blog.
Latest Gunner update…
Gunner Ivorians Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue played today in their Group E qualifying match against Malawi. With Didier Drogba scoring two they trounced the opposition 5-nil. There is no news of any injuries to Toure or Eboue. However much more serious is the news that 19 people died when a wall collapsed at the stadium.
Poland’s Fabianski may get a game against San Marino on Wednesday after the number one keeper Artur Boruc made a devastating error in conceding a goal from a simple back pass against Northern Ireland. Poland eventually lost the tie 2-3
Mexico’s Carlos Vela failed to make the bench or starting eleven as he was suspended. Sven Goran Erikkson saw his side beat Costa Rico 2 nil to put Mexico’s hopes of qualifying back on track after their disastrous start. Carlos should get a game on Wednesday.
